So there I was on the floor, what now? Well I had never spoken in tongues and some ladies from the church gathered round me, placed their hands on me and prayed for the release of that gift. After some time I uttered some words which sounded like I was just making it up or like something I had heard some folk in my church say before, but the ladies encouraged me and I did it again, and again and then some more words. Well you would have thought that that would have been enough excitement for one night but no the best was yet to come.
John who was recognised as having a prophetic gift in the church marched over to me, fortunately I was standing by this time. He looked me straight in the eye and said that God had turned my natural gift of singing into a more significant spiritual gift. That I would be used by Him to release captives. That night God ignited a passion in my heart that has not diminished. My passion is to sing songs of freedom and deliverance that set people free into all God has for them. To lose them from things that hold them back. The scripture that reminds me of this time whenever I read it is found in 2 Timothy 1:6 – 7 “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God which is in you through the laying of my hands, For God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power, of love and of self discipline.”
Whenever I have felt discouraged I have remembered that night. The night God turned a natural ability into a spiritual ability, and added a new dimension to my relationship with Him and the call He had on my life.
